Schools

Fountain Hills is served by the Fountain Hills Unified School District, which includes McDowell Mountain Elementary School (Pre-K to 3rd), Fountain Hills Middle School (4th to 8th) and Fountain Hills High School (9th to 12th). The district also operates Fountain Hills Virtual Academy and Little Falcons Preschool. The district serves Fountain Hills, the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, and parts of Scottsdale. Attendance boundaries and school details can be looked up through the district website, fountainhillsschools.org.

Getting around

Fountain Hills has no direct freeway access; Shea Boulevard and the Palisades corridor serve as the primary routes connecting the town to Scottsdale and the broader Phoenix metro. The town is reached from Phoenix via AZ-202 East to AZ-87 North (the Beeline Highway), then exiting onto Fountain Hills Boulevard. Public transportation options within Fountain Hills are limited, and driving is described as the most convenient way to get around.

Homes and housing

Housing in Fountain Hills ranges from condos and townhouses to single-family homes and larger estate lots, with neighborhoods often referenced by area, such as FireRock, SunRidge Canyon, Eagle Mountain, and the lakefront Town Center. New-construction inventory is limited because the town's geography constrains further development. Builders in the area have constructed everything from multi-family duplexes to custom estate homes.

Things to do

The town's central feature is Fountain Park, a 64-acre passive recreation area built in 1970 around a 28-to-29-acre man-made lake. The park's fountain reaches up to 560 feet depending on which of its pumps are running, and operates for about 15 minutes each hour between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The park includes a paved walking path around the lake of about one mile, along with picnic areas and playgrounds. The town also notes nearby hiking trails, golf courses, and views of the McDowell Mountains and Four Peaks.
